If “The ones who live” does get a second season, I need them to not bring back any twd director. 5/6 were good but the difference between them and the first 4 episodes was noticeable

Rick's arc in The Ones Who Live is heartbreaking. A prisoner who had to become an unconditional soldier because every means of escape, to get back to his family was devoid of hope. His spirit broken, his hope shattered like glass in his hands because he lost each part of himself trying to get back to Michonne and he fears that if he betrays the CRM, that if he finally lets go of their blind morals and loyalty to them, he'll lose everything - his friends, his family so he shields himself from love because he thinks he is too broken to deserve it. Rick had to become a soldier to survive because he didn't think he was worthy of love or family because he would only put them in danger. Michonne wants him to come home because her mission is to reunite her family, to never let them down so they could be with their father again.

When Rick makes love to Michonne, he begins to shed his broken parts and he realises that love is right in front of him, that he is deserving of it after being ripped apart from the ones he loves for so long. To have to watch them die and let their ghosts haunt you until eventually they leave you as broken and shattered as you were before. Carl was Rick's reason to live and without him, Rick is truly broken, with no direction. Michonne is his moral compass, his light, the one he has to live for, the one he needs to fight for, if he loses her, he'll surely lose himself. This is the realization Rick needed that his family and friends need him beyond the unconditional soldier he's became to survive, to not let the dead haunt him because he thinks he has nobody in the world when Michonne, his guiding light, still needs him. Michonne, desperate to reunite her family, determined that she will not let them down because all they want is their father to come home and Rick keeps pushing her and the idea of their family away because he doesn't want to lose them completely. In this moment, as the world is collapsing around then, Rick realizes that love will never desert him, that Michonne will be with him wherever he goes.

Episode 4 of The Ones who Live happens to be a human story that peels the layers of Rick and Michonne away and portrays them as broken people who want nothing more but to live. It asks the deep question of will they be able to fix themselves? Will they overcome what makes them broken and be free to love?

Rick and Michonne not only need each other to survive, but they need each other's love to keep them alive, to keep them steady in a world with no hope. Where you keep losing the people that matters. You will find the person you love and they will be the one you fight for.

As he lets go of this unconditional shell he has built around himself, the old Rick is coming back to the surface because after so long being treated like a prisoner, he found hope and that was with Michonne, his tether to this broken world. The foundation of his soul. Everything he loves so deeply reflected in her eyes. Someone who puts him back together from the vulnerable cracks on the floor and gives him a reason to live.

tag watches the walking dead update: yall so like my whole life ive always thought about what to do in a apocalypse situation. i’m talking since i was like six i have been coming up with ways to survive, mainly cus i have bad anxiety and always kinda just figured it would happen irl. but i like cannot watch this fucking show without critiquing what these mfs are doing, like getting all emotional and shit. someone not wanna shoot a zombie cus they were their friend and im like complaining. i be shouting at the tv during emotional moments cus like girl we got bigger issues to worry about stop fucking crying 😭😭😭.
